In this activity four to five students have to chose a scene from one of Shakespeare’s plays and re-enact it in a modern setting. The group needs to use a digital video recorder to record the scene. Along with the re-enactment students need to have a literary analysis of the scene by adding commentary. In this commentary students must explain their reasoning for choosing the scene, how it is important to the whole play, and reasons why they chose to modernize the scene in that way.
Students need a computer with a word processor, a digital camera and digital video editing software. After they have taped the scene and commentary students must edit the video into a 5 minute segment. After the class views it the teacher urges them to put it on the school website (after converting it into another format) so that others can view it as a learning experience as well. 2a. Christina Di Battista Inquiry based learning is a cognitive process in which knowledge is obtained and not given. Knowledge is arrived at by researching the various solutions to problems or essential questions. The difference between inquiry based learning and other educational approaches is that there is no right answer and involves more than research and recall. The teacher does not simply give facts but provides enough resources to enable the students to obtain them themselves. The questions focus on more than one subject area which involves the interrelation of many disciplines. The process of learning is similar to constructivism by the students building their own knowledge. It links previous knowledge with the activity and aids in the exploration of new ideas and formation of new theories.
